Mint Pepper - Are all of your needs satisfied?

Posted 31 March 2006 in by Sam Brown - 19 Comments

There is a whole host of Mint Pepper out there covering a lot of users needs and wants that the Mint API helps provide.

But, is there anything that you would love to see in Mint and its Pepper that has not yet been done? An area you feel could be extended upon (ie. Quicktime version in UA007) or is lacking a Pepper completely? Do tell!

I will start the ball rolling with something I would love to see in Mint:

A Records Pepper
Displays the record highest Total and Unique visitors for an Hour, Day, Week, Month, and Year. Perhaps it could even include the record highest number of Active Sessions (see Session Tracker).

Mint is a ‘Fresh View’ of your sites visitors and their habits, but I feel a Records Pepper would not be out of place in my Mint. Your thoughts?

I’d love to see something that could give me details about the length of time people spend on particular pages, although this is somewhat available through the session tracker pepper, I’d like a top 10/15 etc. list of pages so I can see which pages people spend longest on. Likewise, a way to view the bottom 10/15 of pages.

I posted something on my blog about this pretty recently, and was going to give it a go myself, but haven’t had time just yet. I’ll probably get a day or two next week, so may give it a go then!

I agree, Sam. I think a records pepper would be really fun. Maybe call it Hall of Fame Pepper or something like that.

Oh that’s easy. An RSS tracker, it’s the one part of a site that you are completely blind on with mint installed.

I would love to see a complete list of all known peppers. I’m new to mint and right now I’m about to go page by page through the archives here to find peppers, which is going to be rather time consuming.

I’d like to see a complete and finished Adsense pepper that records every click :)

Perhaps this exists and I’ve just not found it, but…

I’d love the ability to break down my total # of hits by subdomain. I run Mint on four subdomains, and would love to see at a glance what percentage of my traffic comes from a particular subdomain.

EFL: Shaun is working on a new haveamint site which will have a built-in system for managing peppers.

A few things. The record pepper would be really nice. I’d also like a feature which, unfortunatly, I don’t think is possible (yet) that tells you when and where your images are being hotlinked. I’d like a Parsei or equivelent for Mint1.2 and an adsense pepper.

I would like a public mode where the admin could select a few peppers to display, while others would require login. For example, the default pepper can be visible, but I’ll leave the download counter private.

I’d like to see a pepper that will track hits / conversions from Google Adwords or Overture campaigns.

Personally, I even started removing Peppers since there are certain duplicate and/or misleading data. (That’s a “yes”.) And I encourage everybody to think about what data actually prove the success of your site, and to look for the appropriate Pepper then. Don’t install any Pepper for data sake. Just to play that safe.

Mobile CSS version so limited stats can be checked through a mobile.

Better support for host lookup in XXX, many times IP addresses don’t resolve though a WHOIS search turns up the data.

Archiving/Data Mining.

Plenty of cannon fodder here for potential Pepper!

I would like a pepper that would track the search terms for each blog under my domain (I have 6) I would love to know what the most common search terms for each blog are.

ooh ooh i had another idea.

being able to name IP’s adresses… I have a number of return visitors, and I know who they are based on their location, activity, and IP… so it woul dbe cool if XXX strong mint let you substitute a name for an ip number

I’d like to see a “More…” function in all peppers. I love the peppers and search peppers to tell me the 50 most recent pages & searches, but I’d love the ability to go off to a seperate page and see a longer list (or the next set).

Scott is on to something brilliant there, a feature I didn’t know that I missed – but which I want badly now.

Site Overlay, ala Google Analytics.
